Finding Fulfillment With Coaching

Feel Fulfilled

My early life was certainly lived as a tick box exercise. Tick I have this, tick I’ve done that, externally measuring myself against others, yearning for much needed validation from my family and peers for acceptance, enoughness and love. I didn’t know how empty I was until one day I just felt okay. I didn’t need anything or anyone to complete me. I was content, at peace and brimming with fullness.

Feeling Unfulfilled?

Coaching had been incredibly impactful on attaining this level of being and brought awareness to a lack of connection to myself. What did I love, like, enjoy, have, do, give, want in life? These were questions that I had never really explored before. Somewhere between conformity in society, everyone else knowing what’s best for me and a fear of getting it wrong, would keep me off my meaningful life path where I would continue to feel the deep empty sense of lacking.

Having Enough

Disapproval from external sources made me tighten up and do what others expected from me. I was unfulfilled with how I looked, what I did, how much I earnt and where I was going.

Feeling fulfilled is not about having everything and anything, it’s about being okay or grateful with what you have and a sense of feeling like you are enough. It’s about taking pleasure with what makes your heart sing, really connecting with your unique joy and paying attention to all that is good in your world and truly appreciating it.

Low Mood to Anxeity

Coaching can very quickly identify that which is missing, the part of you that feels either lacking or numb, it can all feel quite bland or depressing. There can also be shifts to anxiety as fears of scarcity, under performing, expectation of others and judgement come in.

Lack of Fulfillment Feels Like

Feeling unfulfilled can leave us wondering, am I enough and what’s the point and what is it that gives me meaning? A sense of a lack of connection with yourself, others and your path in life such as career, home or relationships can create the void. We might feel low in mood, withdrawn and a sense of inadequacy. Low self esteem can push us towards perfectionism and over achieving. Always striving to be the best, to fill the hole with much needed temporary validation. Anxious restlessness can set in as we are unable to feel content and at peace with all that we have, done and are.
