What Does A Coach Do Exactly?
To clients who are experiencing life as new, different or challenging, a coach will guide, teach and enlighten to empower growth so a client can ultimately flourish and thrive.
Sports and Business Coaching
Coaching can come in various guises, whether it’s in Life, Health, Wellness, Young Adult, Holistic, Sports, Business or Leadership. You might recognise coaching within Sports and Business, it’s a well known category to aid individuals with training and instruction for achievement and success into the next level of their chosen profession, clearing anything that might be holding them back to realise their potential.
Life, Health and Wellness Coaching
More recently in the last ten years a holistic view of coaching has emerged, better known as Life, Health and Wellness Coaching. These labels suggest this is client lead, to assist individuals in general life, including their mind, body and spirit. This style of coaching allows the client to deeply engage in all areas of life, the goal is to enrich their existence and live to it’s fullest potential with meaning and purpose.
Coaching v’s Counselors, Therapists and Psychologists
Whatever type of coaching is available, it’s important to know that coaches do not diagnose, repair, analyze or prescribe. We are not counselors, therapists or psychologists. Although coaching can be emotional and profound, coaches do not focus on issues of pathology or unresolved psychological issues of the past. Focus is on the whole person in the present moment, with all their experiences, joys and sorrows.
What Style Of Coaching Do I Provide?
With my background of bodywork therapy and five element acupuncture, I have over the last twenty years attuned myself to the energetics of the patient. This energy can be seen, heard, smelt and most of all felt. My style of clinical practice is to understand the root cause of why a symptom might be there, whilst discerning the element most out of balance with in the five element framework. Each element energetically resonates to the mind body and spirit and when out of balance, this can be observed not only by seeing, hearing and smelling but also by behavior, triggers, narrative and the general mental-emotional health and wellbeing of the patient. Coaching from this stand point can be very powerful, providing a place to explore the essence of you and also what is blocked or depleted.
Another area that I explore in a coaching call, is the mind-body connection. A space is held for patients to come away from the thinking-mind and to explore the body-mind. The body is an instrument that once connected with can provide more answers than a quick search on google can. This practice brings the patient into the moment and away from story, narrative and triggers that come from the thinking-mind, which can ultimately block and hold a person back from fully experiencing life, allowing them to grow, flourish and thrive in all areas.
Can Coaching Help Me?
As my style of coaching focuses on what is at the essence of you, there is not much it can’t help with. Essentially coaching benefits any area of life that maybe overwhelming, new, different or challenging.
I am also strongly drawn to helping those with mental-emotional healthy issues, such as anxiety, low mood, panic attacks etc. Whether these have arisen from a young age or have occurred later through life from experiencing physical or emotional trauma, coaching can help reestablish balance. Mental-emotional health can be experienced by women during hormonal stages of life, such as menopause, pregnancy or monthly periods, another sign of energetic imbalance that can benefit from a session with me.
So the answer is yes! Coaching can hugely benefit, by understanding whats blocked or depleted and connect you into the now and to live the life you have always dreamed of.
