Abundance and Gratitude
Abundance and Gratitude
I do love this time of year, Late Summer transitioning into Autumn. The intensity of Summer has waned since its peak at the Summer Solstice. Three months on and the contrast in the natural world is stark as we arrive at the Autumn Equinox. We see plant life all around us curl and crisp, animals gathering food stocks prior to hibernation. All this is happening as fast as it sprang into life six months ago.
It’s extraordinary to think this only happens because of the sun and our orbit around it.
Earth Element Transitions to the Metal Element
As we phase from Earth to the Metal Element we may take time to reflect with all that we have birthed, grown and created, that has provided support and nourishment. The elements resonate both with the Stomach/Spleen and Lungs/Large Intestines, they both demand being filled up to do their job, the Stomach with food and Lungs with air.
Emptiness resides over both Stomach and Lungs, always hungry, always depressed. They are in fact in a constant flow of filling and emptying but when imbalanced we can feel unsatisfied or unfulfilled.
Emptiness
Recognising the emptiness is the first step. Feeling constantly deprived and dissatisfied can make us feel needy, yearning for something or someone to support, nurture, nourish, understand or sympathise with us. Or our emptiness may be experienced as unfulfillment, disconnection, isolation and loneliness that makes us feel low in mood, uninspired and heavily depressed.
Acknowledging our Riches
Well how do we change that emptiness? Five Element Acupuncture, Coaching and Seasonal Breath and Movement Classes are powerful ways to support the body-mind into sated contentment. Also acknowledging the riches we have in our life can help fill the void. Can you note down all that is overflowing? What is it that is plentiful in this moment?
Abundance in the Moment
Any part of your world that if bountiful is worth noting down, full cupboards, a place to call home, income, friends, family, love, time. Make a note of any complaint that arises. “Yeah but the cupboards will empty after making dinner this weekend”, “my income goes towards so many bills that are rising, I have very little left”, “ I have some time now but it will get taken by work, chores and family this weekend”.
The awareness of abundance is what is true right now.
Giving Thanks
With your list of abundances, take a moment to go through each one. Can you appreciate how much you have in this moment? We may have to close our eyes, attune to the centre of our chest, connect with our plenty and wait to sense an opening warmth that inflates our chest as we recognise and give thanks to all that we have.
Can you hold that moment of recognition of your abundance?
Thank You for Reading
We have so much but little regard or acknowledgment of what it is we have. It’s a constant work in progress when society flaunts all that is lacking. I’m just thankful I have been able to share this blog with you today and that you have even read it.
