Reconnect to Mind and Body
Reconnect to Mind and Body
Acupuncture is incredibly effective at immediate reconnection to mind and body. Being in nature, yoga, meditation, breathwork and bodywork can also fasiciltate deep connection to mind and body. It’s the disconnection that creates pain, suffering and dysfunctional disease, it’s why I have added a new service for additional support.
Seasonal Breath & Movement Class
Originally devised as a way to support and empower ongoing patients, who were either unable to attend regular appointments or in need of extra support, due to chronic mind-body unease. Seasonal Breath & Movement Class has combined all that supports ongoing connection to feel well and in full health.
The class is a combination of Five Elements acupuncture theory, based on nature and it’s seasonal energetics, mediative breathwork and yoga movements, which help open channels and pathways to awaken deficient or blocked Qi.
These classes can be seen as acupuncture in motion, that support and empowers you with knowledge of seasonal and channel energetics. Below I share some insights into how Seasonal Breath & Movement Class is supportive to mind-body health and wellness.
Breath
Oxygen is Qi and the way we breathe is important. Due to our sedentary lifestyle our lungs inspire with limited breath, which can feel hesitant, holding and constricted. Guided breath work awakens our Lungs Qi and there by stimulating the energetics of all five element organs. Our organs are the source of our energetic quality. Channels and deep pathways spread Qi across the body and by deepening the quality of our breathing, we enhance the quality of our energetics.
Movement
Channels and deep pathways run thoughout the body between lines of fascia, a wrapping connective tissue that encases all muscles and organs. For our Qi to flow abundantly, we need not only to breathe but to move. Opening tight or restrictive fascia and musculature, allows for a release of blocked Qi and the restoration of deficient Qi.
Each element/season resonates to differing organs and channel pathways on the body, mindful movements are specific to the current seasonal energetics, for harmonious resonation and connection to mind and body.
Natures Micro Seasons
over 2000 years ago, before the Gregorian calendar, the Chinese had sort to understand the rhythmic seasonal cycles to utilise for the cultivation of crops. Named The 24 Solar Terms, the seasons are seen as flowing energy in constant motion. Every two weeks, the graduating continuum responds to the hightening of Yang energy (the summer solstice) to it’s opposite the depth of Yin energy (the winter solstice). No two days are ever the same, we have over millennia defined and labeled only four seasons and miss all that lives inbetween. The frequency of energy in their micro seasons effects us daily, weekly and monthly. Seasonal attunement is at the heart of breath and movement class to feel alive and well and deeply connected to mind-body and the natural world.
The Mind-Body-Nature Connection
As children our bodies are finely tuned instruments. We listen, feel, smell and experience the world through our entire being. At a very young age we lose this connection with our energetic senses and our bodies. We become more and more cerebral, operating from only our minds in school and on screens. Wounding childhood experiences, creates further disassociation from our bodily connection. Attuning only to the mind to protect our vulnerable heart.
Societally we are more sedentary, stagnated and disconnected to the energetic wisdom of our bodies than we ever have been, leading to more pain, discomfort and suffering.
Our thinking minds has severed our bodies from the natural world. It’s taken millions of years to evolve in to human beings, roaming, working and living off the land, deeply entrenched in its seasonal shifts, and movements. In the last few hundred years our natural world has been seen as “other” as we sort to violate, control and master it, whilst we sit hunched in brick buildings, dominating and exploiting it from virtual worlds.
We have forgotten the deep physiological need for our bodies to resonate in nature. We forget we are apart of nature and are genetically coded for a life of movement, bending, walking, twisting and stretching. Reconnection back into our bodies and nature allows for a deeper sense of attunement creating wholehearted, contentment, satisfaction, fulfilment and joy.
