Seeds of Life
Seeds of Life
Happy Chinese New Year! I write this on 1st February where celebrations are had all over the world in Chinese culture to bring in the new year. Chinese new year sits seasonally at the very tail end of Winter. The beginning of Spring starts on 4th February, when naturally we step into the new and vibrant energies of growth for the year.
Winters Hibernation in February
Winter’s dormancy allows for any seeds of potential to form. The lack of warming sunlight, provides the dark cold Yin of Winter. Death is Winters message, an end to all natural life that has delivered its beauty, leaving a new generation of seeds. The seed starts life, bed deep down into the earths rich soil, hidden and at rest waiting for the rousing Yang energy of Spring to bring forth its potential.
Cultivating Our Own Seeds
We all have seeds that lay dormant and are awaiting the suns energy to awaken. This is why I think we like the idea of setting intentions at the beginning of a new year, a time when we have rested, allowed the dust to settle and come to a conclusion of our deeper needs and desires. Setting an intention provides that stretchy purpose for growing and developing our own seeds.
The Gate of Life
The Water Element resonates with our Kidney Essence, where our “Seeds” are stored. Located energetically in the space between the lower back and the lower belly, from the umbilicus to the pubic bone. One acupuncture point found on the lumber spine, is literally called the Gate of Life. It suggests a jammed gate, will bring difficulty in accessing the seed like essence, to fulfil a persons destiny and reach their full potential.
As February transitions from Winter to Spring we can take pockets of rest by lying supine and spark fire into our lower belly by breathing deeply into our Kidneys. Be still and listen. What seeds lay at the Gate of Life? Which seed are you ready to nurture, water and grow?
Winter-Spring Attunement
Tendrils of Spring energy rise up, the Wood element awakening the energetic organ of the Liver. You may notice a stirring of organisational energy for a plan to develop. By the end of February the motivation for seeking a vision, dreaming and planning will be heightened. Allow space and time to be creative about bringing your vision to life. Next month with the rising yang energy, we may feel more of a draw to act on these seeds of intention.
Enjoy your Winter-Spring transition, its a month like no other, with moments of quiet rest, listening out for those seeds which ask for your attention and time spent on creative gestational development, to bring those chosen seeds to life.
