Acupuncture For Peri/Menopause
Acupuncture For Menopause
Menopause has a bad rap here in the West. I think Chinese Medicine has it right with their thoughts on Women’s Health and the significance of the uterus. They consider the uterus to be just as important as the heart and brain and is known to be connected to most of energetic organs in the body.
The menopause is highly revered in Chinese Medicine, it’s known as “The Second Spring”. Many might balk at those words, they’ve seen mothers, aunts, friends or themselves indeed go through tumults hot flushes, horrendous insomnia, deep anxieties, the rage and utter fatigue.
The Body Keeps The Score
As women we are deeply fortunate to be reminded monthly that our bodies are in charge. Our yin nature, draws us in each and every time. We might notice every aspect of our monthly cycle, from its winter on day 1 to the start of summer at ovulation. Every two weeks we flow from yin to yang, being drawn deeper in, to then expanding ever further out.
Then there is pregnancy and childbirth. For those fortunate enough to have entered into motherhood, will have experienced a myriad of stories that range from the divine to the distressing. All have one thing in common, intense sensations that have ability to bring you back into your body,
Listen To Your Body and Awaken the Heart
There are many medicated roots that allow us to stay disconnected to our screaming bodies. I have had the absolutely privilege to work with many women who were ready to listen to what their hearts most needed and committed to honouring its call. As a Five Element Acupuncturist, I not only work with the typical health symptoms of peri menopause or menopause but work with their life symptoms that maybe exacerbating the root cause of their physical discomfort.
Life Changing
It’s not uncommon for women in their late 40’s to mid 50’s to confront and change aspects of their lives that have either been deeply unrewarding or utterly unsatisfying. Life transitions that arrive out of the blue or by design trigger difficult emotions and peri/menopausal symptoms.
They can be extreme life changes such as a separation, a divorce or a complete change of career. Equally they can be centred around taking more time to reconnect to old parts of themselves that have been lost over the years or actualising new connections or interests and deepening kinder self care to restore empty energies.
Those who have come to me to sought relief from peri/menopausal symptoms have all stepped into their second spring and like spring have felt revived and renewed. Opening to their hearts desires and prioritising their needs whilst reconnecting to their true nature have allowed the transformation from fertility to empowered and creative full life living.
How Does Acupuncture Help With The Menopause?
Five Element Acupuncture clears and nourishes energy that is blocked or empty. Cooling Yin energy is commonly depleted due to the cessation of menstruation.
My focus is on nourishing theses cooling yin energies to ease menopausal symptoms. I also treat you the person by rebalancing elemental energies that are most out of balance. Drawing you back into a cooler, calmer mind and body.
